Belly Dance: Level 1 Beginner Classes

Belly dance is a fabulous and exciting dance style that’s a lot of fun to learn. You may have never danced before in your life, feel you’ve got two left feet and/or a total lack of co-ordination, be over 50, over 70, lacking in self-confidence, or shy or nervous about going to a dance class. But none of that should stop you! Loreley’s classes are attended by students of all shapes, sizes, and ages (though generally adults). The focus is on learning to dance but also having fun at the same time.

In the beginners you will learn the basics of belly dance move-by-move, practise simple combinations of moves and steps, and even learn a simple dance routine.

Starting is easy. Loreley teaches beginner level classes in Abingdon and Oxford. Click on the Class Timetable button below for details. You can try a single class or sign up for a whole term. For payment options and to book, just click on the Book Now button.

What to wear: You don’t need any fancy kit to get started! Normal exercise gear is fine though you might want to bring a long scarf to tie round your hips. You can dance barefoot or wear shoes that are flat and flexible, e.g. ballet shoes. It’s also a good idea to bring a small bottle of water.

Belly dance is a very healthy form of exercise. However, if you do have any concerns about your health then you should seek medical advice before signing up for classes.
