Class Information

Term dates

Some great news! While classes have been continuing online, in-person classes are resuming from 17 May 2021.

The Monday classes will be back at their usual venue in Oxford from 17 May for a 7-week term (cost £49). Note, there won't be any classes on 31 May or 7 June.

The Beacon in Wantage remains closed so, temporarily, the Tuesday classes will take place in West Challow Village Hall. The in-person term there starts 25 May for an 8-week term (£56).

The Abingdon classes will resume on Thursday 27 May for an 8-week term (£56).

New class members are always welcome. Email Loreley to book your place.

For the face to face classes, various safety measures have been put in place to comply with government guidelines, including social distancing. This means class size is strictly limited and booking essential.

If you've never been to a belly dance class before, the start of each new term is an excellent time to join one! We'll begin with the absolute basics. Don't worry if you think you've got two left feet and a total lack of coordination, or you just feel very self-conscious - relax! The classes are fun and friendly and you'll learn how to belly dance move by move. No previous dance experience necessary.

What to wear

Wear comfortable clothing that you can move around in, such as leggings or joggers and a T-shirt, and bring a long scarf or shawl to tie round your hips. Wear flat, flexible-soled shoes or dance barefoot. Soft ballet or jazz shoes are ideal. Trainers are too clumpy. Eventually you may find you want to dress up more in a colourful skirt, top, and hip scarf dripping with beads and coins!
